Georg Snatzke

Georg only provided me with a brief bio

Georg Snatzke Dr. rer. nat. Raymond Georg Snatzke was born in 1971 in Hausham, Germany. He studied Economathematics at the universities of Eichstätt and Augsburg. He got his PhD at the University of Augsburg for his research on combinatorial game theory. He works in Munich as an IT consultant.

Georg and I met at Antietam or as he prefers Sharpsburg on September 17, 2012, the Sesquicentennial of the deadliest day in American history. We reconnected at Appomattox in April 2015.

Georg is scary smart, deeply reflective and devoutly Catholic. He is the only person I ever met who took up  a deep study of the Civil War without bringing any preconceived cultural baggage to it.  I may have issues with where he ended up, which you can discover by reading about his post, but have to admire the journey he has gone on to get there and I think he will keep travelling.

In spite of his neo-confederate views, Georg became a fixture at General Grant's camp at Vicksburg and continued on at Appomattox.
